FornArv was founded out of a deep love for Nordic history and mythology. Something that has always been here, around us, but which is all too easily forgotten today. It is a history that carries something profound and timeless, something that only becomes clear when one chooses to explore it. For in its roots lie not just stories, but strong core values and beliefs about strength, endurance, and direction. Behind the brand is Olivia Karlsson, with a vision to highlight this heritage and allow it to reclaim its place.

We come from a place where nothing was free. Where the cold was sharp, the darkness prolonged, and conditions unforgiving. But from it grew something stronger, generations of people who did not give in, who pressed forward with a quiet determination, no matter what stood in their way.

In a world constantly moving forward, it's easy to lose connection with what once was. But our history is not something that belongs to the past; it lives on within us. It carries generations of experiences. This is also where the inspiration for each garment comes from. Not just from Norse mythology itself, but from the values it carried. The recurring details on the garments that take us back in history

The Words of the High One, or Hávamál as it is called in Old Norse, is one of the most famous poems from the Poetic Edda, a collection of texts bearing traces of the Nordic Iron Age and Viking Age. These verses accompany carefully selected garments in FornArv's collection.

The verses are attributed to Odin himself and convey advice on life: about honor, strength, wisdom, friendship, and how to stand firm in a harsh and unforgiving world. They were passed down orally through generations before being written down in Iceland during the 13th century, but their roots extend much deeper than that. Concise, direct, and often brutally honest, they reflect a society where survival, loyalty, and reputation were crucial. In FornArv, these words are given new life.

Together with the powerful meaning of the runes, a script once carved in stone, they also take their place on the garments. Runes have been a part of Nordic history for over 2000 years. They were used as the written language of the Norse people but were also believed to carry a deeper, symbolic, and sometimes magical meaning. In mythology, it is said that Odin himself sacrificed much to gain knowledge of the runes, and since then they have been seen as symbols of wisdom, power, and guidance.

Every detail carries a meaning, a reminder to the wearer of strength, direction, and the values that have shaped us. Something to carry with you, not just externally, but also internally.
